about the awards

Quest Community Newspapers plays a pivotal role in supporting small business across the Greater Brisbane region through the annual Business Achievers Awards.

Established in 1994, the Business Achiever Awards allow local communities the opportunity to recognise and reward their local businesses.

The Business Achiever Awards, (an initiative of Quest Community Newspapers) are supported by a valued array of corporate and government sponsors and their goal is to empower our readers to recognise and reward local businesses for providing top quality services and to encourage these local businesses to ‘Go the Extra Mile’ by offering these improved customer services to our readers.

2010 will mark the 17th year of the Business Achiever Awards program recognising outstanding small businesses for their contribution to the local community.

The Awards offer small business a marketing edge on their competitors and conversely offer sponsors the opportunity to be directly involved with potential clients in a positive and celebratory atmosphere.

A business can only be voted for one of the standard category awards by using one of the Business Achievers entry forms published in each local Quest newspaper. Votes can also be lodged at your local Suncorp Branch. Votes can also be lodged via the Quest website (www.questnews.com.au). We will also accept photocopied vote coupons.

Once votes close a maximum of six businesses, with the most votes in each category, become the 2010 Business Achiever Awards finalists for that particular newspaper.

Each finalist is then asked to complete an online business diagnostic survey, the contents of which will contribute towards the judging process. Later, responses included in the assessment may be used to write a script about the winning business to be read out at the awards night.

To be eligible for a Business Achievers category award, a business must satisfy the following criteria:

a) privately owned or a franchise / agency operation with the nominee being the only franchise / agent outlet of the same name and proprietor in that zone area.

b) wholly within the circulation area of the newspaper as determined by the Corporate Events Co-ordinator in consultation with Quest's Distribution Department.

c) must be nominated in the accepted manner.

d) Votes for national companies, major chains, publicly listed companies, etc may be excluded as category finalists, unless, in the opinion of the organisers and judges, a category or nominees within a category lend themselves to the inclusion of such companies.

e) For a New Business to be eligible they must prove that it has been registered less than 18 months from the publishing of the last entry coupon. It is up to the business to supply us with that proof within a given deadline.

f) In all matters, the organisers and judges decision shall be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

g) As a finalist in the 2010 Quest Business Achievers Awards you will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win a Suncorp Business Development Pack valued at $1085. If you do not wish to be entered into this draw please contact the Business Achiever Awards office on 07 3352 0511.
